Q: What inspired you to start learning your instrument?
A: My husband, [Leslie], had always wanted to learn to play the Clarinet. We took up our instruments together as I wanted to support and encourage him. I have discovered I enjoy it too. We have benefitted from learning together and have now begun to play together.
Q: What do you enjoy most about playing your instrument?
A: I enjoy finding new music to have a go at and have been able to learn several of my favourites. I have found great encouragement through my music lessons which have stretched me beyond that of which I thought myself capable.
Q: What advice would you give to someone performing for the first time?
A: To someone performing for the first time I would say, "Just go out and enjoy playing and know that your audience appreciate your efforts".
Q: What are your musical aspirations?
A: I intend to continue with my lessons. I want to master the skills already learnt and build on them particularly playing confidently in the middle register. I also want to increase my knowledge of music theory to grade 3. I have played a few times with musicians in church and would like to play more regularly with them. I would also like to have a go at playing the trumpet!
When she is not practising the clarinet, Sara enjoys reading, drawing and painting, needle crafts and scrapbooking. She also enjoys going to concerts and the theatre.
