16 Code of Practice

16.1 Statement

This code of practice has been prepared to provide guidance to learners, teachers and customers to help them achieve musical success, and create an amiable working relationship, by meeting their mutual goals and targets. The code also outlines the best practices for music teaches operating in the private sector.

16.2 Learners

We expect our Learners to be punctual, arriving at the agreed and proper time. Music making requires diligent personal practise to be carried out regularly in order to make progress. In few cases we make exceptions to this expectation where the learner is otherwise responsible for unrelated obligations (i.e. family or commitments). Unfortunately, it is at our discretion entirely if we chose to refuse service and terminate contracts with clients who fail to comply with personal practise.

16.3 Teachers

We aim to deliver the best advice and instruction that we are able to. In order to do this effectively, lesson time requires the core components of music to be explored, regularly. Each session must include at least five minutes exploring: theory (written or verbally discussed), basic-technique, scales and arpeggios, a focus-piece, sight-ready and aural-training.

The duration of these exercises might fluctuate depending on circumstance and need, however to meet the basic requirements to conduct a lesson and to nurture a long lasting relationship with music in the learner, the teacher must try to incorporate the above into each session.

16.4 Customers

We are bound to service the needs of the account holder, which is designated to whoever settles our payment fees. This person may in some instances also be the learner, however in the instances where this is not the case, we advise that the Customer tries not to interfere with the lesson. As much as we do appreciate your custom, we must refer to our extensive training in the field and ask that you trust our judgement.

16.5 Confidentiality

We are committed to maintaining the highest degree of integrity in all our dealings with potential, current and past clients, both in terms of normal commercial confidentiality, and the protection of all personal information received in the course of providing the business services concerned. We extend the same standards to all our customers, suppliers and associates.
